Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and what this covers

MightyMaps (we, us) operates this website and the service at dashboard.mightymaps.app and map.mightymaps.app (together, the Service). This policy explains how we handle personal information about our customers, the people who view maps published with the Service, and visitors to our website.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, sign-in details and account settings. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email address that provider shares with us. We never store a password in readable form.
  • Content you create, such as your maps and everything on them, and your conversations with the AI assistant, including your messages and what it produced.
  • Payment information, such as the credits you bought, when, the amount and transaction records. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, and we do not receive full card numbers.
  • Usage and device information, such as your IP address, approximate location (including the country you signed up from), browser and device, the actions you take in the Service, and diagnostic records.
  • Communications, such as the messages and files you send us, and our replies.
  • Information about people who view public maps, such as request and usage information, how often a map is viewed, what they type into a store locator's search, and an approximate location worked out from their IP address, which a locator uses only to list the nearest places first.

3. How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • provide, operate and maintain the Service, including building, storing and publishing maps;
  • carry out the AI requests you make;
  • process purchases and keep track of credits;
  • communicate with you about your account, the Service and your requests;
  • understand how the Service is used and what it costs to run, and improve it;
  • keep the Service and its users safe, detect and prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use; and
  • meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, and establish or defend legal claims.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the Service, compliance with law, and your consent where we ask for it.

4. AI processing

When you ask the assistant to build or change a map, we send what is needed to carry out the request, such as your message, the relevant conversation and the map's current contents, to third-party AI providers, who process it under their own terms. We do not use your maps or conversations to train AI models. Providers may keep limited records for safety, abuse prevention and legal compliance.

Do not put sensitive personal information into a message or a map unless you are entitled to and it is needed for what you are asking.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as follows:

  • Service providers who work for us, such as hosting, storage and delivery, AI, address lookup, payment processing, email delivery and security services. Addresses you enter, and searches typed into a store locator, are sent to our address lookup provider to find where they are. They receive what they need to do that work. Stripe is the merchant of record for credit purchases and handles them under its own privacy policy.
  • Map, font and routing providers: when anyone opens a map, their browser loads map tiles, fonts and route data from third-party services, which receive the usual request information, such as IP address and browser, and the area or route being displayed.
  • Anyone with a link: a map you make public can be seen by anyone who has its link.
  • For legal reasons, where we believe it is needed to comply with law or legal process, protect anyone's rights, safety or property, or investigate fraud, abuse or security issues.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger, financing, reorganisation or sale of all or part of the Service.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar browser storage that are needed to sign you in and run the Service. Our sign-up and sign-in pages use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated abuse, which reads information about your browser and device for that purpose. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, though you will then be signed out and parts of the Service may not work. If we add technologies for other purposes, such as measuring how our website is used, we will update this policy first.

7. Where it is processed

We and our providers process information in the United States, and may do so in other countries. It may be subject to the laws of those places, including lawful access by their authorities. Where the law requires, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, which for account and map information is while your account is open. After that we delete or de-identify it, except where we need to keep it for legal, tax, security or dispute reasons. Copies may remain in backups for a limited period before they expire.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards suited to the information we hold. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information. If an incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to receive a copy, to object to or restrict some uses, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a privacy regulator. To make a request, including a request to close your account, email support@mightymaps.app from your account's address. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time the law requires. Some information may be kept where the law allows.

We send the messages your account needs, such as verification and password reset codes, receipts and service notices. If we ever send news about MightyMaps, each message will let you stop receiving it.

In Canada, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. In the UK or the European Economic Area, you may contact your data-protection authority.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the date above, and if a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or through the Service before it takes effect.
