Credits track the work, not your maps
One credit is a tenth of a cent of what the work costs us, AI or address lookups, so a message is charged in proportion to what it took. That is why there is no per-map price on this page: a one-line tweak and a forty-store locator are not the same job.
What uses credits
- Building or editing a map
- Every message you send to the assistant costs credits, in proportion to the work it actually did. A small tweak is a handful; building a ten-stop itinerary from nothing is more.
- Asking it a question
- A message that only asks something ("how far is the third leg?") still goes to the AI, so it still costs a little.
- Placing an address
- 4 credits for each street address looked up so its pin lands on the building, whether it is typed in the chat or imported from a spreadsheet. A row that already has coordinates is placed for free.
- Visitor searches on a store locator
- 1 credit for every 2 address or postcode searches your visitors make, charged to you, up to 400 searches a day per locator, so a busy or abused locator costs you at most 200 credits a day. Past that, the search box still finds places by name and town. Showing the nearest locations first and searching the list itself are free.
What never uses credits
- Looking at a map
- Yours or anyone else's, published or not. Always free, with no limit on views.
- Embedding a map
- Putting a map on your own website, and every visit to it there.
- Sharing and unsharing
- Publishing a map, copying its link, taking it private again.
- Renaming and deleting
- Anything you do without asking the assistant to do it.
- Keeping your maps
- There is no storage charge and no expiry on a map you have already built.
Your account shows your balance and everything you have used, and the map editor shows what a store locator's visitor searches have cost so far.
Billing questions
Credits track the actual work rather than a flat per-map fee, so you only ever pay for what you asked for. Most edits are a handful of credits, and a full map built from scratch uses a few more. A store locator also uses 4 credits for each address it places.
No. Whatever is in your balance stays there: there is no monthly reset and nothing to use up before a deadline.
No. MightyMaps has no recurring charge at all. You buy a pack of credits when you want more, and that is the entire billing relationship.
Your maps keep working: published links stay up and nothing is hidden. You cannot ask the assistant for another change until you top up, and a store locator's search box searches its own list rather than any address.

No. A map can be opened by a hundred people or ten thousand without costing you anything. The one thing visitors can do that uses your credits is search a store locator by address, at 1 credit for every 2 searches, because each search is a paid lookup for us too. The map editor shows how many searches your locator has had.
